Module 1

Biomechanics and the landscape of artful sequencing / Sam

Wednesday 21st - Sunday 25th October + Saturday 21st - Sunday 22 November

Anatomy

During this module, you'll gain an in-depth understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the axial and appendicular skeleton. Each day will begin with an exploration of the functional range of motion of a specific region of the body, and how to evaluate this in your students. You'll learn how to use yoga to address issues that often present themselves on the mat.

Sequencing

Moving beyond the traditional methodology of sequencing, we'll explore the "why" behind every posture you incorporate into your classes. You'll learn how to structure your class planning, and how to use anatomy, philosophy and impactful theming to inform your classes.

Module 2

Diving deep and becoming the witness / Angela & Maria

Wednesday 17th - Sunday 21st February + Saturday 20th - Sunday 21st March

During the yin module, your days will be shaped by theory, practice and interactive conversation - shining a light on the functional approach to yin postures. Each of us are different - both skeletally and muscularly - which can alter the experience of a pose from one body to another. During this module, we celebrate these differences using posture variations, props and visualisations. So we can enhance our individual experience of asana through feeling and breath, as opposed to aesthetics.

We'll dive deeply into the 7 archetypes of yin yoga (based on Paul Grilley's functional approach), gaining an advanced understanding by breaking down each posture one by one. As the week progresses we'll layer these learnings with use of intention within a teaching environment - including meditation, theming and music - to help us dive deep and settle in.

Module 3

Beyond Asana: Yoga philosophy demystified / hands on assists/ Helen

Wednesday 5th - Sunday 9th May + Saturday 5th - Sunday 6th June

Philosophy

During this module, we'll investigate how ancient yogic philosophy meets modern-day asana practice and our lives. We'll focus on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Tantric, Advait texts, and the Bhagavad Gita to offer context and contrasts to our modern-day practice. This module will include discussion, movement, self-study, mindfulness, meditation, mantra and the creation of home practices. Prepare to examine your personal narratives, stories and myths, as you meet the texts and philosophies that underpin our yoga practices.

Hands-on Assists

The hands-on assists portion of this module is an introduction to assisting students throughout a yoga class. We'll take an in-depth look at consent, approach, and the ethics of touch in the context of a yoga class. This module is designed to provide you with the confidence to assist in a safe, sustainable and meaningful way with the potential to cultivate a deeper experience for both you and your students.

Module 4

The art of transformation / Maria & Angela

Block Wednesday 4th - Tuesday 10th August (7 day block)
